Position Summary 

Abbott Building Systems is seeking a highly skilled PV Solar Technician to join our operations team at the Fort Bend Solar Farm. In this role, you will be the front-line expert responsible for the health, safety, and performance of our solar energy infrastructure. You will ensure maximum uptime through proactive maintenance, rapid troubleshooting, and technical precision. 

Key Responsibilities 

System Maintenance: Execute routine preventative and corrective maintenance on utility-scale PV systems, power inverters, and advanced battery energy storage systems (BESS). 
Technical Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve complex electrical and mechanical faults while maintaining strict adherence to company safety standards. 
High-Voltage Operations: Safely operate and maintain electrical collection systems and substation equipment rated up to 345kV. 
Safety Coordination: Lead site safety analyses, participate in emergency response drills, and strictly follow all Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures. 
Asset Management: Support local inventory logistics, document all maintenance activities, and track component warranties for replacement parts. 
Collaboration: Work closely with the Abbott Operations Center and internal cross-functional teams to streamline site performance and reporting. 
Project Support: Assist in the commissioning of new equipment and support specialized site projects as required. 

Skills & Experience 

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of practical experience in electrical maintenance or renewable energy operations. 
Education: High school diploma or GED required; a technical degree in electronics/electricity or a Journeyman license is highly preferred. 
Technical Proficiency: Solid understanding of electrical theory, power electronics, and control systems. 
Diagram Literacy: Proven ability to interpret technical schematics, one-line diagrams, and complex wiring layouts. 
Equipment Mastery: Familiarity with specialized electrical test equipment and industrial hand/power tools. 
Logistics: Must possess a valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a U.S. passport for potential training or travel. 
Flexibility: Ability to work in varying weather conditions and a willingness to support night shifts or extended hours during critical maintenance windows.
